My Little Personal Trainer

I mentioned to my 7 y/o son last night that I planned to exercise after breakfast this morning. He knows that means getting out my big exercise ball, hand weights and yoga mat. It also means I’ll be stretching, bending, kicking and punching for a good, sweaty half-hour.

He’s young enough to consider that fun.

So every 10 minutes since we woke up he’s asked, “Are you ready to exercise yet? How about now? NOW???”

Nothing like having a sweet little voice nagging at you throughout the morning to ensure that, yes, you ARE going to exercise, lady.

Which reminds me: I’ve got a workout appointment to keep.

Aw, now that’s what I call sweet motivation!

I’d much rather have that than the nagging shrew that currently lives in my head.

You’d think it’d be sweet, Annaliese, but now that he’s tasted a little power he’s gone mad with it!

Just an hour later, while I’m groaning over my sore thighs and weary shoulders, he came running into the room saying, “Time to exercise again! Time to exercise again!”

I begged. I pleaded. I offered to give him all of the candy I’ve got hidden throughout the house. He’s not interested.

So, yes, I exercised again.

I am SO glad he goes back to day camp tomorrow.

Heh, good point. At least my nagging shrew only makes me work out once a day!
