Summer’s Here And My Fat Is Frying

It’s hot. I’m sweaty and sticky. With energy costs what they are — along with the high price of everything else — I’m trying to leave the air-conditioner off as much as possible. By noon, though, I can barely stand it: every movement means some part of my body is rubbing against some other part and by the end of the day all of the parts feel like raw meat.

So now’s probably a good time for some retro-Chubby: my advice from last May about how to prevent that rash caused by thighs rubbing together.

Another tip for surviving the summer: don’t be afraid to apply an acne treatment to summer breakouts wherever they happen. I learned this the hard way years ago after getting a pimple on my ass. That’s two miserable weeks I’ll never get back.

My goal in life has always been to be a pimple on someone else’s ass.

    Not yours, though.

Thanks, Donna. I’d had to have to stick a pin in you.

Actually, we learned pretty quick when we had our ac system that it’s best to leave it on. You simply choose a temperature that isn’t extremely lower than outside. If you turn it on at noon it has to run and run until it cools off the walls and the air inside, which runs up the bill. I hope this helps.

That definitely makes sense. As we learned last summer, it also helps to blow out the A/C intake grill. I’d asked my husband to do that this spring but he kept “forgetting”. (Read: he thinks it’s a pain in the neck to do.)

This weekend the A/C was running nearly non-stop despite the temps being only in the mid 80s. I walked him over to the thing and pointed out just how clogged the intake grill is with dust, dirt, leaves, etc. In other words, the unit’s running all the time but it’s not getting much air in there which means we’re paying for inefficiency.

Guess what he’ll be doing tonight as soon as he gets home.
